What is ACES?
ACES is a competitive career planning program for high school students grades 9-12 and undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career as a physician, nurse, dentist or other essential allied health professions.
Our program uses job shadowing, healthcare-related community service, career exploration opportunities and hands-on workshops to give secondary and undergraduate students a better idea of where they might fit in our current and growing healthcare community.

Education designed for career development.
The purpose of Health Careers is to encourage middle/high school students who desire a career in healthcare. Classes and curriculum are designed to get students actively involved in what it would be like to work in their chosen profession. These classes are hands-on—dissections, infection control, CPR, etc—and also have our medical and health professional students come in and speak with students several times a year.
SEMO AHEC actively comes to schools on average 1-2 times a month to offer classes. If anyone is interested in our program you may contact our Health Careers Coordinator at jessiepolk2021@gmail.com or 573-718-5976 to set up a time to discuss our program and the needs of your students.
